About the event
The Stabat Mater is a 13th-century Christian hymn to the Virgin Mary that portrays her suffering during the crucifixion of her son Jesus. Nils Greenhow’s setting for string quartet and upper voices is paired with Adam Schoenberg’s Never shall I forget, based on Elie Wiesel’s account of his father’s suffering in the Nazi concentration camps. The programme also includes the first performance of a new work by Yshani Perinpanayagam.
Part of the Choral Discovery Concerts series, which invites audiences to discover lesser known, thought-provoking choral music in short concerts with St Martin’s Voices.
